Doctor's Visit No. 7

Yesterday I went to the doctor for my monthly check-up. Austin and I decided that since it was just a regular check-up, and no sonogram that there really wasn't any need for him to take off work to go to this one. However, as I was driving myself to the doctor I found myself a little sad that he wasn't going. I don't know - I guess I just like having him around! Anyway, everything went well...I've gained another 8 pounds which the doc wasn't too thrilled about. She told me, "Just like a mother would say to her daughter...'it's going to hurt you more than it will hurt me.'" Hmm....I would've rather heard, "Oh, what's another 8 pounds, anyway?" I explained that I have this ravenous appetite and I just can't seem to control it at times. To make matters worse, I don't crave grilled chicken and broccoli. I want cheeseburgers, french fries, oreos, and anything and everything that allows me to put on the pounds. So, needless to say I need to work on the weight gain. Other than that, it was a pleasant visit. I have to go back in two weeks to do my glucose test. I'm so not looking forward to chugging all of it in FIVE MINUTES - ICK! Oh well, it has to be done. So, this next month I will be trying to:
  • eat more fruits and vegetables
  • try and avoid driving through Whataburger every time I pass it
  • walking at least twice a week (Hey - I'm really tired when I get home from work!)
  • snacking will consist of healthier choices - not snickers!

Let's see how well this goes. I'm telling you, when I get hungry - I'm HUNGRY!

Check out the new poll and vote!!

So, Austin and I went about a month ago to register at Babies R Us. We ended up registering for just a few items and left somewhat frustrated. We both stared at eachother blankly, not knowing what to register for. Yeah, I know of several things I need, but I didn't know what bottles were best, pacifiers, etc. So, we left and decided I would come back with someone who knows what they're doing. Since then, I've decided that the stroller/carseat combo I registered for at Babies R Us isn't the one I want, and actually found one I like better on Target.com, and at the Target store. Here is my question for you, especially if YOU are an experienced mommy. Should I get the cute girly carseats, strollers, highchairs, pack and plays, etc...or should I register for the cute unisex Eddie Bauer collection that I found? Do you think it is more practical and would I use it all a second time around? I'm assuming I would, but I'd like some more experienced people's advice. Please vote on the poll I just posted, and/or feel free to leave a comment on what you think! I'd love and and all feedback! Thanks so much!

Month Six

April
This month ended with Annabelle being the size of a large mango. It's funny, because when I go grocery shopping, I have a new found interest and appreciation for the different types of produce since I've been pregnant. :0)
This month consisted of some new aches and pains, lots of movement and kicking from my little angel, some slight anemia, an appetite like a horse, and of course the wonderful kidney stones. Luckily for me, the near 100 oz. of water I'm drinking a day has seemed to cure my stones for the time being. Needless to say, I visit the bathroom quite frequently throughout the day, as well. Pregnancy has definitely proved to be a challenge and a new way of life. I have honestly forgot what it was like to not be pregnant. I am thankful for everyday that God has given me the opportunity to experience this wonderful miracle. Six down, three more to go!

Doctor's Visit No. 6

I went in for my monthly visit on Monday. Umm...let's just say that all of the Whataburger and sweets I've been consuming have finally caught up with me. Are you ready for this one? I gained 6 lbs. in ten days....TEN DAYS!!!! Is that possible?? Apparently - and leave it up to me to accomplish it. I shrunk to about a foot tall when my doctor gave me "the look" after reading that piece of info from my chart. She's awesome, though. She didn't lecture me too much, and when I explained to her that I was ALWAYS HUNGRY...I mean ALWAYS, she looked at me and said, "Jennifer, eat some celery." I had to laugh. Anyway, other than that and being slightly low on iron everything looked good. We were able to see Annabelle move on the sonogram. She had her hands up by her face and was moving her head from side to side. It's so awesome to actually see her move. I can feel it all the time, but to see it is even better. I have no complaints and my kidney stone issue has seemed to go away for the time being. It could have something to do with me drinking about 100 oz. of water a day. For whatever the reason, I am continually thankful for my health and a healthy baby. God is good! Thanks for all the prayers out there.

Totally Blogworthy

Meet Audrey Kay Gooch - daughter of Evan and Nicole Gooch. Audrey was born last Tuesday, April 7th, a healthy 6 lbs. 7 oz., 18 in. long. Audrey's momma is my best friend and has been like a sister to me my whole life. Our moms were best friends in high school and Nicole and I grew up together. This precious little angel is like a neice to me, and I couldn't be more thrilled that she's here! We've been waiting for her, forever it seems like! It also thrills me that Annabelle and Audrey will grow up together like her mom and I did, and hopefully have the same sister-like relationship that we do. Welcome precious, Audrey! You are loved by so many (especially your Auntie Jen!)

(Unexpected) Doctor's Visit No. 5

Thursday I had an irritating, but painful, shooting pain up and down my side off and on during the day. It was painful, but bearable until about 6:30 that evening. The pain all of a sudden increased to an intense amount to where I thought I was going to have to get myself to the hospital. Luckily, it lasted only a few minutes. After talking to my doctor, she said it sounded like my kidney and if it persisted to come into the hospital later on that night. Otherwise, she wanted to see me the next morning. Well, I had small twinges of pain, but nothing else severe for the rest of the night. So, I went in for an appt. Friday morning. They did a sonogram on my kidneys and found out that I have kidney stones - lovely! So, now I am chugging the water and hoping and praying that intense pain doesn't return. A plus to my day, though...we were able to see Annabelle, again! She's grown so much since the last sonogram and already weighs a pound. We were able to get a great profile shot of her - the best yet!

I love her little profile. I'm pretty sure she has her daddy's cute nose!

Here, you can see her arm over her face.

Month Five

March
We ended month five with Annabelle being about the size of an heirloom tomato. I actually didn't know there was such a thing as an heirloom tomato, but apparently they're bigger than your average tomato. I can no longer fit into any of my regular clothes. It's all maternity or wearing my new favorite pregnancy accessory - the Bella Band! If you haven't heard of it, and you're preggo, look into it! Things should start getting busy around here now that we know the gender...I've got to start planning, planning, planning!

Very, very blessed,

Jennifer :o)
