Eight Months Old

You're Eight Months Old, Sweet Angel!

Mommy can hardly believe it! You are growing like a weed - a beautiful one, that is! I am so in love with each and every little thing you do! Your personality is so fun and your sweet smile is contagious! Everyone catches that smile when they see it!

Oh, just when I think you can't get any cuter or any more fun, you do. You always do. However, this month has definitely brought with it, it's challenges as well. Your little "diva" attitude is shining through a bit. You know what you want, and if you don't get it, you let Mommy and Daddy know you aren't happy. I'm trying very hard, Annabelle, to not let Mommy's "teacher side" come out too much. Daddy has to remind me you are only eight months old. Not eight years old. So, I try not to let this attitude you have get to me too much. I know that you are just becoming your own little person, and since you can't talk you're expressing yourself in whatever way you can. You are hilarious, though.

You're getting so big now! At your last doctor's appointment, you weighed 17 lbs. This is because you love food. Even though this is big for you, you still are tiny for your age. You are eight months old now, but just now fitting into your six month clothes. Unfortuately this month, baby food has brought its own set of challenges. You've had really bad diaper rashes and we couldn't seem to get it under control. Dr. Straughn prescribed you some prescription strength ointment, but even that wasn't working very well. So, we decided to take you off baby food altogether and just feed you oatmeal. Then we've been re-introducing the baby foods slowly one at a time. It looks like, so far, bananas are what is doing it to you, AB. So, no bananas for you for a while. Other than that, you love food and you look very forward to meal time now. However, you are still very serious about your bottles, too. I mean, check out those wonderfully, pinchable, kissable cheeks (and not to mention that crazy case of bed head you're sporting)!

Ooh, Mommy could just kiss on you all day! You can only take so much of that, though. Mommy and Daddy just hug and kiss on you constantly and we think you are perfectly, 100% snuggable. All you have to do is look at us with those enormous big, brown eyes or "say" something as only you can, and we are back at your beck and call.

Speaking of beck and call, we have been there a lot lately. You're suffering from an allergy and that combined with teething, you've been very fussy and uncomfortable, lately. It makes us sad to see you unhappy. Your poor nose is constantly being suctioned and wiped, and boy, do you HATE that. We're a little afraid you are allergic to Bella. We're not positive of this yet, but we started you on some new allergy medicine, so we'll see if this helps! As far as your teething goes, we're just waiting to see those little buds of teeth poke through your gums. I have to admit, I'm going to miss these gummy smile days. I love those sweet little gums of yours. Especially when you talk or smile, they make my day. It's so sweet...

This last month, you celebrated your first Easter. It was so much fun putting an Easter basket together for you and getting you dressed up for church in your Easter dress. I loved your Easter dress! We even had some special pictures taken at the Arboretum in honor of your first Easter. They turned out BEAUTIFUL of you, Annabelle. Mommy and Daddy carried you around proudly as the photographer snapped pictures of you. Random strangers would stop us and go on about how cute you are and how beautiful your dress was. You eat up the attention. Hmm...I wonder who you get that from?

I could look at these pictures over and over and over and never get tired of it. You look so precious, and the colors with your sweet little porcelian skin is breathtaking. I mean, afterall, I am your mom. I could never get tired of looking at you. In all seriousness, how sweet are these pictures of you, though?

You already have a trademark. You are known for that tounge of yours. Your Daddy will sometimes call you Gene Simmons. You don't know who that is, and Mommy would be just fine if you never know who that is. It is true, though. That tounge of yours is very "Gene Simmons-ish." "That tounge!" is a common phrase around our house, and with friends and family. "That tounge" is always out of your mouth, but it makes you, you.

You definitely know what you want. You reach for everything, and if we're not looking, WATCH OUT! One of your new things, is sitting with Daddy in his big, comfy chair. He will usually set you right beside him and give you the remote to play with. Oh, man. Do you think you are special when you have that remote in your hand. You wave it around, proudly and "talk" about something that only you can understand. Usually, you want whatever Daddy has in his hands. I love watching you sit with Daddy. You'll hold onto him, look up at him, and you make both of us melt. So sweet, AB.

When we were in Houston for Audrey's first birthday, Audrey had the coolest bath tub. It was a big, yellow rubber ducky. You LOVED it. You would sit up so tall and proud in it, and were able to play with bath toys. Daddy and I knew when we got home, we had to get you one, too. We did and you think it's the greatest thing. We definitely learned our lesson, though. The first time we used it, Daddy filled it up a little too full, and you took a nose dive into the water. You were a little shaken up by it, but Daddy was right there to pull you back up immediately. Whew. One of those scary moments as a parent. Haha, I'm sure it was even scarier for you, but you handled it well. Here's a few pictures after that.

Oh my, how you are getting to be so big. You are doing all kinds of things that blow my mind. It's crazy to think how much you have grown in eight, short months. You have many different faces, moods, likes and dislikes. One of your likes, of course, is your pacies. You still love your MAMS and I find it amazing, that when they fall out in the middle of the night, I no longer have to go into your room and put it back in your mouth for you. You wake up, a little groggy, reach out for your MAM, find it and put it back in your mouth (I know, because I watch you do this on the monitor). Such a big girl!! I thought that day would never come!
You love to play. Your toys and books keep you entertained for quite a while. I love to watch you explore your toys and figure out how they work. You're a fast-learner and catch on to what you're supposed to do with your toys. You love books. You already can turn the pages. Your Aunt Nicole spent some time with you, when we were in Houston for Audrey's bday, and ya'll read some books together. I loved watching your face as you looked at the pictures, and how you helped Aunt Nicole turn the pages. Such a smart girl.

Oh yes, AB. You are the apple of our eye and we are loving watching you grow. I try not to dwell too much on the past and how you are growing so fast. I think that is probably my least favorite thing about being a parent, it goes by TOO fast. I'll take it, though. You are such a blessing, that I enjoy this time so much.
We love you, sweet girl. You mean so much to us and I love your sweet personality that you are developing. Heck, I even love your little attitude. It is what makes you, you. Just a few more months before you will be my big one year old. That is just crazy. Until then, I'm enjoying these baby days with you, and watching you grow.

Love you so, so much!
Mommy

Annabelle, Lately...

The other night while I was feeding AB her dinner, which usually consists of a vegetable and then some fruit, I decided to bust out the camera to capture her messy face and runny nose. She was such a mess, but a cute mess, that I wanted to capture it. Well lately, Miss Thang has shown us a different side. She's a little bit more quick -tempered and very vocal. When it gets close to 8:00 at night, the grouchy Annabelle comes out. These pictures captured it perfectly. We have our sweet little Angel one second, and then a little monster the next. This shoot started out well and good. Such a sweet and happy little mess right here.

Oh, but wait...

It gets worse...

And there you have it, folks. A full-blown fit. About what? No idea.

*Sigh* This is just her, lately. I know it's a normal (I hope!) phase that she's going through. She's possibly teething, and trying to become mobile. So, I sense a lot of frustration. Oh well, I'll take all of it, the good, the bad, the ugly. I love her too much not to!

A Silly (I mean, really silly) Obsession

When I look back on this wonderful time of my life, and I think back to Annabelle being little, I want to remember the silly, little things that I used to be concerned with. Well, here's one of them...

Yes, you're right. You're staring at a picture of 9 pacifiers. MAM pacifiers to be exact. I am obsessed with these little guys. And I'm even bothered at the moment, because I'm pretty sure there's one missing. I think we have ten, I just don't know where it is. I love these things almost as much as AB does. My best friend got me hooked on the MAM's and ever since, I've been obsessed. I know! It's ridiculous! At all times, in the back of my mind, I keep track of them. I have to know where all nine (or ten) are at one time. I have them memorized, and I'm pretty sure the tenth one that is missing, is another pink heart one. I'll find that little guy one of these days. The places where they show up, if they've been lost for a while, are behind AB's crib, in the backseat where she throws them sometimes, in her pack and play or in the bottom of my purse. One of the funniest places where one showed up, was in Andrea's flowerbed. The only thing we can think of, is that she threw one out of her carrier as Austin as taking her up to Andrea's door. Austin even knows just how crazy I am about them, because he called me one day from work and said, "I found the missing pacie." Haha. Yes, these little guys are an important staple around here. I'll be sad when AB outgrows them. Pretty soon, she'll move up to the six month and up pacies, and then I'll be obsessed with these, too. Oh, this is just one of those silly little things I don't want to forget!

A Visit to the Doctor

Thursday night Annabelle had a terrible night's sleep. This meant that Mommy had one, too. She woke up three or four times and was crying and fussy. She didn't have any fever, but was congested. The day before, I noticed her touching her ear a couple of times throughout the day. On top of that, she was experiencing a bad diaper rash that we couldn't seem to shake. So, I thought maybe that was a result of the bad night's sleep, too. So, I called her doctor Friday morning and he decided he needed to see her for the ear and the rash. Turns out, her ear was fine, with the exception of being a little waxey. Her doctor thought the rash wasn't too bad, but prescribed her two different ointments. As you can tell from the pictures, it hasn't gotten her down too much. She's always so cooperative and happy at the doctor. I'm enjoying these days...I know it won't be too much longer before she realizes what the doctor means!

My mom had the day off and took care of AB that day, so she decided to tag along with us to the doctor.

AB now weighs 16 pounds. She's doubled her birth weight. I mean afterall, check out those rolls! I love my chubs!

Annabelle and Emerson Meet for the First Time!

The other evening, AB and I brought the Poole's dinner since they have a very newborn baby at home. What makes a newborn baby a "very" newborn baby, you ask? Well techinically, when AB and I visited Emme the other day, it was her original due date. So, this baby was actually only a day old! Confused? Emme was born two months prior on February 8th, two weeks premature. You couldn't tell it, look how beautiful and healthy this baby is! Check out her sleepy yawn!

Emme is now a very healthy baby, and weighing in at almost seven pounds. That is incredible, seeing that only eight weeks ago, she was three pounds. I had already met Emme in the hospital. Over spring break, Austin and I went to visit her in the NICU, but AB wasn't allowed to go back. So, I was so excited to get these girls together. I loved it because AB was really into Emme. It was like she knew that was going to be one of her best buds. It was so cute, she kept trying to reach over and touch her. We were laughing at her because she was playing with the buckle on Emme's seat. She was trying to get that girl out of there so she could get out and play!

Annabelle with the Poole girls: Big sister, Anna and Little Sister, Emme.

Get her outta there, people!

It was fun to see our girls together. Amy is one of my best and closest friends and I'm so excited that our girls are growing to go up together and be close. Looking forward to those playdates!!

A Day of Celebrations!

If Sunday wasn't enough cause to celebrate, our wonderful friends Jonas and Jill had another reason to celebrate...

Yup, after F-O-R-E-V-E-R, Jonas finally popped the question. (I can talk smack because my hubby was the same way ;0). Jonas and Jill are very good friends of ours and we've been anticipating this day for a very long time. Jonas and I went to high school together, and then Austin and Jonas became best buds in college. Jonas was in our wedding, and over the years I've grown even closer to his now, fiance (that's fun to say!), Jill. Love her!

What a fun night! Jill's birthday just so happened to fall on Easter, and so we thought maybe something might happen on this night. So, we didn't hesitate to find a sitter for AB and go out to RA for some Sushi and fun times for Jill's birthday. Sure enough, when we arrived Jill flashed her bling in my face and I jumped up and down with excitement. I know they've both been looking forward to this for a while. I'm so glad we made it out and that we were able to join in celebrating this very special evening with them. You can't tell I'm excited or anything.

Thank you Jonas and Jill for including us in your special night! We love you guys and are so happy for you. God has blessed us with a wonderful friendship with both of you and we can't wait to see the plans He has in store for the two of you. Love ya'll!

AB's First Easter

Even though she was only seven months old for her first Easter, the Easter bunny still made a stop at the Aldrich household!

AB's basket was full of her favorite things: strawberry yogurt melts, six month MAM pacies, baby food bananas and soft building blocks. That Easter bunny sure did a good job! We waited until after church to come home and do her Easter basket. She's obviously too little to understand Easter and the true meaning, egg hunts and Easter baskets, but in the future I want her Easter basket to have things in it that reflect the true meaning and what Jesus did for her. I'm still brainstorming ideas, I've got a couple of years before I get started on that. Right after church is her feeding time and nap time, so she wasn't too enthused, nor patient while we gave her the basket. I think she was just trying to figure out what all of it was about!

Leave it up to my child to be interested in the Easter grass than the actual contents in the basket!
Trying to sample her Daddy's favorite Easter candy, Cadbury eggs.

She's reaching a point - time to eat!!

Oh, wait! What's this? Strawberry yogurt melts??

Finally! What's she's really wanted the whole time!

After we did her Easter basket, we headed over to my Grandmother's for Easter dinner with family. We cracked up at AB in her dress and how it poofed out when we put her in the bouncy.

We were so excited to see Cousin Steston. These two are precious together. This is AB in her post Easter outfit that Chana got for her. I thought I'd spare her the bow and just let her play and romp around.

Mommy and AB

Our unofficial Easter picture. We had our Easter pictures taken at the Arboretum the week before, and are still waiting to see them...

World's best Daddy and Husband!

Grandpa and AB - isn't the resemblance crazy???

Grammy, Grandpa and AB.

What a special Easter this was. Just like with Christmas, I felt the true meaning of Easter more than I ever have. It's crazy the sacrifice that was made for me so that I could go to Heaven and be with our Father who truly loves us. I can only now really understand how much God loved his Son and can't imagine what it felt like to know He was going to die for all of us. Being a parent is the most rewarding and unconditional love I've ever felt. Thank you, Jesus, for dying for us.
Happy Easter!
